The function of a biodigester is to produce methane gas, also known as biogas. The biogas can then be used for a variety of applications including cooking, lighting, and electrification. Biodigesters are usually fuelled by animal manure and other biodegradable material and as a byproduct produce nitrogen-rich fertilizer.
