Refugee Camps Hybrid Systems
Umphiem Mai Computer CenterBGET is installing hybrid solar/diesel systems for powering common facility computer rooms in the seven Karen refugee camps along the Thai – Burma border. The project, funded by the UN High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR), is implemented in conjunction with ZOA Refugee Care and is integrated with BGET's overall solar / renewable energy training program in the refugee camps.
Project Duration: July 2006 to July 2007
Umphiem Mai Computer Center. The budget covers activities in seven refugee camps: Tham Hin, Don Yang, Nu Poe, Umphiem, Mae La, Mae La Oon and Mae La Ma Luang. The funding came from UNHCR through ZOA projects. BGET is a sub-contractor to ZOA for this specific projec
Copmputer Center Diesel Generator. Each of the seven refugee camps is already equipped with a diesel generator and a computer room with as many as nine computers. The result will be computer room power systems that consume far less diesel fuel than currently used, in a fashion that can be expanded with further solar panels in the future.

This project involves surveying, designing, purchasing, expediting, and supervising the installation of appropriate solar panels, inverters, control equipment and wiring to augment the existing system. These installation projects will be combined and become part of an overall solar / renewable energy training program that BGET has initiated in the refugee camps.
